Preface
This book contains the scientific contributions to the 5th
\nInternational Brain-Computer Interface Conference (2011), held in Graz,
\nAustria.
After the positive responses to the first four International
\n Brain-Computer Interface Workshops and Training Courses we decided to
\nchange the style and expand the event into a Conference, since we want
\nto provide a platform for scientific exchange within the Brain-Computer
\nInterface research community. Here, researchers can present their own
\nwork either in the form of a talk or a poster presentation. For this
\npurpose we encouraged the participants to submit papers, which were
\npeer-reviewed and are published in this issue.
The BCI meetings held
\nin Graz, Austria, may be considered to be a European initiative in the
\nheld of EEG-based Brain-Computer Interfaces that contributes to a
\nstronger orientation towards scientific cooperation.
We are lucky
\nthat outstanding experts in the held, Prof. Jonathan Wolpaw (Wadsworth
\nCenter,Albany,NY,USA),Nick Ramsey (UMC Utrecht,Rudolf Magnus
\nInstitute,Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery) and Dr. Donatella
\nMattia (Fondazione Santa Lucia,Rome,Italy) were able to accept our
\ninvitation to present keynote addresses at the Conference.
During
\npreparation of these proceedings many people have been involved. Here we
\n want to acknowledge the work of the reviewers who contributed with
\ntheir expertise and knowledge:
