The related considerations are divided into the two<br \/>\n main topics, namely the (steel) product \u201cself-tapping screw\u201d itself and<br \/>\n the withdrawal behaviour, defined as the axial composite interaction<br \/>\nwith the timber material where it is inserted into.<br \/>With regard to<br \/>\nthe product performance, the main outcomes are the derivation and<br \/>\nverification of a mechanical approach, describing the relationships of<br \/>\nits relevant design properties in dependence of a geometrically varying<br \/>\nthread profile, as well as some fundamental findings in terms of<br \/>\nfatigue-relevant loading and hydrogen-induced stress corrosion cracking<br \/>\n(HISCC).<br \/>In case of the withdrawal behaviour, based on about 14,000<br \/>\nexperimental results, the impact of several influencing parameters is<br \/>\ndetermined, discussed and described by means of empirical, stochastic<br \/>\nand mechanical modelling.
