The book presents the 1300-years-old rare three story temple palace of
Santa Rosa Xtampak in Campeche, Mexico. The combination of profane and
sacral architecture had to be reconstructed in some parts. The analysis
of the 50 room structure reveals seldom constructions principles.
Serious static problems prevented the construction of a planned high
roof comb. The form of the 17 m high structure is a combination of
temple pyramids and houses on a terraced artificial mound. The
publication provides indications for different functions of the
structure. Even the positioning of the lower vault beams is a clear
indication of the function and in some cases also of the use of certain
accommodation. The general planning concept also concerns the security
aspect.
